Ascot Racecourse

Ascot Racecourse reopened in June 2006 following an 18-month redevelopment programme, the largest of its type anywhere in Europe.  The focal point of the redevelopment is the new Grandstand, opened by Her Majesty the Queen.

The Grandstand's distinctive design takes account of both of Ascot's commercial activities - racing and business and events.  The building has been designed to be interchangeable for both, according to the requirements of the audience.

Racing, both flat and jump, is held at Ascot throughout the year.  Bookings are now being taken for business and events.

We also operate rail services in the UK, for both passengers and freight.  First Great Western operates high speed train services acroos the south west of England and into South Wales.  Maidenhead station will soon be fully refurbished, as part of our £750m investment over the next 3 years, and improvements to platforms will minimise the need to substute trains with buses during engineering work.
